A campaign group is championing its legal victory over DECC in the controversial solar FiTs court case.
Today the Supreme Court refused DECC permission to challenge a ruling which would have let it cut the subsidy paid out to solar power from panels installed between 12 December and 3 March.
Friends of the Earth said the “landmark decision” over “botched Government solar plans” would prevent ministers causing “chaos” with similar subsidy cuts in the future.
The view was supported by others in the industry, with Cathy Debenham, the CEO of green energy price comparison website YouGen adding the decision spelled the “Beginning of [the] end of confusion” over the solar subsidy.
But campaigners warned the Government now had “urgent” work to do in the solar sector.
A spokesperson for Friends of the Earth said: “The Coalition must now get on with the urgent task of restoring confidence in UK solar power.
“The Government recently pledged a huge increase in solar by the end of the decade; it must now spell out how it is going to achieve this.”
